Autism
Anyone have any experience with this? I do more than I care actually. Like I have said before our third son has is ever changing thing. I call it a thing because you can't really put them all in the same group. Some people with Autism can do math like Rain Man, some can paint and play instruments.
Well my son, goes to public school for reasons to long to explain here. I LOVE him with all my heart!! I just wish that the teachers would be a little more understanding of kids like this. He has a huge heart and is a big teddy bear but due to his size, he's over 6 feet tall and is about 250 lbs and has some really bad outbursts.
Well today is one of those days!! He apparently asked for help and was told to put his work away, picked on by someone and told not to worry about it. All of this caused him to have a melt down and say somethings that he didn't mean and now.......well now he's home for tomorrow not because he's in trouble but he needs a day off? Really? NO!!! He needs to be his ass in school, you see he has everyone duped into thinking he needs a day off. He hates school and loves staying at home and so go to school is punishment for him. AHHHHH!!!
We've lived here at Fort Benning for six years and in all that time my husband has been deployed or this last year in school so he's been home about two years in the last six. I have had to deal with all of fallout. Not complaining just venting I guess. I just tire of teachers and others that don't know my child and how he really is judge him when he's placed in situation that causes him to have a meltdown.
The florescent lighting in school is really bad for kids with Autism, it tends to set them off, not to mention it's high school, crowed halls, the noise and please lets not forget how wonderful everyone is in high school. Yes I know that Autism is mainly a social thing but he has other issues as well. Combine all this with the fact that hormones are running ramped he generally feels like a lone fish put on display for everyone to poke.
This is not the case with his Autism, high functioning, his perception of any given situation is always under scrutiny. It's not that he's lying he just doesn't see the whole picture and like I have said before there is no grey area for him it's either black or white.
Oh well I'm sure I will find him something to do tomorrow.
